Working with the listing agent as a buyer
In Texas, a real estate license holder representing the seller works for the seller. If you contact me about one of my listings as a buyer, I'll explain in writing who I represent before we discuss anything about your position, price, or motivation, so you can decide how you want to proceed.
You are always free to have your own agent represent you, including on a home I have listed. The Information About Brokerage Services form, which Texas requires license holders to provide, sets out the difference between representing a seller, representing a buyer, and acting as an intermediary.
